Madeline Thigpen is an education reporter and Report for America Corps Member. She joined the Atlanta Voice in 2021. At the Voice she covers K-12 education for the Atlanta metro region and higher education. She has covered the local districts and universities as they transition back to full-time in person learning classes.
Previously she was a general assignment reporter for TAPinto Elizabeth and TAPinto Roselle/Roselle Park and an education reporter for TAPinto SOMA. Her past reporting covered the district’s elementary school integration plan and the struggle between parents' groups and the teacher’s union to reopen schools during the pandemic. Thigpen graduated from American University with a BA in Journalism.
