What is the position you are running for? *

Atlanta City Council President

Why are you running for office? *

Atlanta has lost its way. Crime, housing prices, and gaps in city services are rising and too many feel left behind. I’m running so that my wife can look towards her future and not over her shoulder, so that my former students and their families can thrive, our potholes get filled and to ensure we are, in fact, a city too busy to hate.

In what ways do you believe your experience will assist you in your position, if elected? *

I have built citywide coalitions, put our schools back on track after the largest cheating scandal in history, built affordable housing, and helped families avoid eviction. Those experiences have taught me that there’s nothing wrong with Atlanta that can’t be solved by what’s right with Atlanta.

Why are you the best candidate for this position? *

I am the only candidate who has led a legislative body, the only candidate that has led a government agency out of crisis, and the only candidate that has consistently addressed the problems we face.

What do you think your constituents need the most? *

Strong leadership that moves with urgency to reduce crime, expand affordable housing, improve service delivery and bring jobs that pay living wages to all of Atlanta.

What would you do differently than the predecessor in the position/office you’re running for? *

Unify and position council as a strong, proactive and urgent legislative body.

What are the three (legislative) issues you will address, if elected? *

Public safety, affordable housing, improving service delivery, and increasing the number of jobs that pay living wages.

If elected, what is your plan of action the first 100 days in office? *

On day one, the council will introduce legislation to reduce crime and expand affordable housing. The balance of the first 100 days will be spent on putting together a budget that improves service delivery, expands youth programming, and helps people recover from the pandemic.
